Mystery of Monuments in Indonesia

Indonesia have a lot of monuments are scattered in each area as a symbol of the struggle of the area or in order to honor the founder of the area and some other history. But did you know that some historic monument has a secret and remains a mystery to this day?

1. Tugu Yogyakarta

Tugu Jogja is one of the few landmarks that characterizes the city of Yogyakarta. Tugu Jogja named monument "Golong gilig" with about 25 meters to the bottom of the fence that resembles a circular, cylindrical pole (called Gilig) conical to getting to the top and the rounded shape (called golong) at its peak.

Tugu Jogja that now is not the original monument was first built on the idea of Sultan HB I. The monument was collapsed when a big earthquake struck Yogyakarta on June 10, 1867. The invaders was rebuilt with a very different form.

Monument building was renovated in 1889 by opzichter van Waterstaat - Department of Public Works JWS van Brussel in the era of Dutch rule. The shape is completely different. From the original stands as tall as 25 meters to just 15 meter away. The new monument was built by the Dutch is often also referred to as De Witt Paal or Tugu Pal White (Pal actually also means 'monument', adapted from the Dutch) , because of the first set until now always colored white.

This Tugu always be the symbolic significance linking the South Seas, the Sultan Palace and Mount Merapi because it is a straight line when viewed from a particular side. Another mystery is right at the monument are the epitome of the Zionist entity as a form of colonial intervention of the Indonesian nation or just a fluke when established? 2. Monas

Development Monas monument located in Central Jakarta Monas Square, or to the south of the State Palace in Jakarta, aimed commemorate and preserve the Indonesian struggle for independence during the revolution of 1945, in order to continue to inspire patriotism and spirit of present and future generations with a height of 132 meters (433 feet) built on an area of 80 acres.

Built in 1959 and completed in 1960, the form of memorial is unique because it is based on the concept of universal eternal partner, An obelik stone made of marble in the form of "Lingga- Yoni: Fertility Symbol". Lingga and Yoni is a symbol of fertility and harmonious unity complementary since prehistoric Indonesia. In addition Monas form can also be interpreted as a pair of "alu" and "Lesung", pestle rice found in every house of traditional Indonesian farmers.

Secret "Lidah Api" above the top of the monument into a public debate because it is believed that relief is the embodiment of the figure of a woman.

Not known for sure the meaning is to be conveyed in these reliefs, but some opinion states that the President at that time,  Ir. Soekarno, really appreciate women as a symbol of encouraging fighters. But some others said it looks like "Nyai Roro Kidul", the owner of south coast.

3. Patung Pancoran

Patung Pancoran is actually a "Patung Dirgantara", but because of its location which is in the area pancoran, the statue is commonly called the statue pancoran. This statue has a height of 11 meters and is made of 11 tons of bronze and has an arch-shaped foundation of concrete 27 meters high. Designed by Edhi Sunarso, created by artists from Yogyakarta Arca Family, and supervised directly by the President himself, the statue was completed in two years (1964-1965).

The first idea of making statues is of President Sukarno, who wants to be made a statue of the Indonesian aviation or aerospace. This statue depicts a human space that illustrates the spirit of the Indonesian people the courage to crawl space. A very strategic position because it is a gateway to Jakarta for the newcomers who had just landed at the Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport .

What special of this statue? Because development is closely monitored president Sukarno, is believed by many that the direction of the hands of the statue pancoran shows the location of "Treasure" hidden owned Soekarno, but another opinion said this statue overlooking a harbor Sunda Kelapa which is the heart of civilization in Indonesia during the Dutch colonized.
